The plot for “Spaceballs: The New One” has finally been revealed, and it playfully targets some of the biggest trends in modern franchise filmmaking. According to the official synopsis, “Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned!” as a new threat emerges that is “so completely lacking in any original ideas, that it has vowed to bring back the past… every last bit of it.” The story follows Prince Starburst and a palace advisor named Destiny as they search for original heroes, including Lone Starr and Yogurt, while the “Schwartz” is “stretched thinner than a franchise releasing TV episodes theatrically.” The description concludes with a tongue-in-cheek warning that “while some threats you can fight, the reboot is not one of them,” setting the stage for the sequel’s April 2027 release.
