President Donald Trump picked the Kansas City Chiefs to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX during an exclusive interview with FOX News' Bret Baier on Sunday (February 9).

“I hate to do it,” Trump said. “I just say that I watched this great quarterback [Patrick Mahomes] who has, by the way, a phenomenal wife, okay. She’s a Trump fan, she’s a MAGA fan. So I happen to love her okay.

“I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won, I have to go with Kansas City — I have to go with Kansas City. At the same time, Philadelphia is just fantastic.”

Trump plans to attend Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, making history as the first sitting commander in chief to attend the game.

“I’m very surprised to hear that, I would have assumed many presidents came,” Trump said to Baier “But, I think just the spirit of the country … I thought it would be a good thing for the country to have the president.”

“It’s an iconic day. It’s going to be a big game. Two great teams. And, let’s see what happens.”

Super Bowl LIX will be a rematch of the Super Bowl LVII played two years prior. The Chiefs defeated the Eagles, 38-35, to win their first of back-to-back Super Bowls, and look to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive, already won three times and made four appearances in the last five games.

The Eagles' lone Super Bowl victory came in February 2018, defeating the New England Patriots, 41-33, which marked their third of four prior appearances.
