Silentó, known for his viral hit, "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)," was charged on Thursday (September 3) for his attempt at trying to attack two people in their home with a hatchet.
As per the Associated Press, prosecutors allege that the rapper, whose legal name is Richard Lamar Hawk, walked into the unlocked home of a stranger in Los Angeles on Saturday and swung a hatchet at two people inside the residence, before one of them managed to disarm him. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said that the rapper was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on $105,000 bail.
The rapper's attack occurred while he was out on bail for another arrest in Orange County, authorities said. A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Department records told People that he was previously booked on felony inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant in a domestic violence incident. Silento is scheduled to be arraigned later today for the hatchet case. If convicted, the 22-year-old could receive a maximum of six years in prison.
