It’s normal for college students to get homesick, but for 22-year-old Samuel Nzube, going home is long overdue. He’s a student at Algoma University in Michigan and hasn’t been home to see his family in five years - because home is Nigeria.
But thanks to his coworkers at Little Caesars, he’s finally getting the chance. His work friends have been saving their tips since last October and have reached their $2,000 goal, which will buy Nzube a plane ticket home to Africa. And it it’s not enough, their employer says he’ll pay the difference.
"I just want to let them know that I really appreciate the efforts and I'm grateful for helping me go home after so long. It's great," Nzube says. "My mom was so happy. That's all she's been talking about."
