Mom And Her Six Sons Donate Their Hair To Charity

A family in Cheektowaga, New York just got an extreme haircut. Phoebe Kannisto and her six sons, 10-year-old Andre, eight-year-old identical twins Silas and Emerson, and five-year-old fraternal triplets Herbie, Reed and Dexter went to a local hair salon for a major chop after growing their hair out for years to donate to the nonprofit group Children With Hair Loss.

When their strands were all cut, they had 17 feet of hair between them to donate to people who can’t grow their own. That’s a lot of hair! Kannisto explains that they started doing it when a close friend lost a son to cancer three years ago. And now it’s a family tradition to grow out their locks and donate them to make wigs for kids and adults with medically-related hair loss.

Now that her six sons are involved, her two-year-old daughter wants in too. But she didn’t quite have enough hair to donate yet, so they’re already planning for the seven of them to do it next time.
