OneRepublic Lead Singer Opens Up About Near Nervous Breakdown

Ryan Tedder is opening up about the anxiety he had to deal with while out promoting OneRepublic’s last album “Oh My My.” In a lengthy post on Facebook, Tedder writes that he “hit a physical, emotional, psychological wall,” after what seemed like endless promotional appearances and performances.

"I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, not sleeping, on meds, not happy, anxiety on a crippling level and it was triggered from sheer exhaustion," he writes. "I looked at a calendar, realized I had been gone 200 days of 2016 and still had three more weeks of being gone. From my family, my wife, my kids, my friends, basically my life. I also realized that had been the last 10 years.”

Ryan says all that exhaustion led him to almost quit the music business, but instead he decided to take a break, even if it meant stopping all promotion for the record. The band took four months off, and Tedder focused on writing for other people.
