Does it seem like every time you head to the grocery store your bill gets larger and larger for the same exact things. There’s no doubt food prices continue to rise, and it seems some items have seen larger increases over the years than others.
Well, 24/7 Wall Street analyzed changes in the Consumer Price Index from 2006 to 2016 to uncover the grocery items that have increased in price the most over the years. They looked at 300 common supermarket items, and while you may not think of it as something you buy there, cigarettes and tobacco products are the things that have gone up in price the most in the past decade. In fact, the rise in cost is so bad, cigarettes have nearly doubled in price from ten years ago.
