Info About Michigan's 3 Major Proposals on the Nov 6 Ballot

Michigan voters like you, will have the chance to approve or reject three major proposals on November 6, 2018 and here's the breakdown of each one:

Proposal 18-1: Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol

Official ballot language:

A proposed initiated law to authorize and legalize possession, use and cultivation of marijuanaproducts by individuals who are at least 21 years of age and older, and commercial sales of marijuanathrough state-licensed retailers.

Proposal 18-2: Gerrymandering (Voters Decide, Not Politicians)

Official ballot language:

A proposed constitutional amendment to establish a commission of citizens with exclusive authorityto adopt district boundaries for the Michigan Senate, Michigan House of Representatives and U.S. Congress, every 10 years.

Proposal 18-3: Make It Easier To Vote

Official ballot language:

A proposal to authorize automatic and Election Day voter registration, no-reason absentee voting, andstraight ticket voting; and add current legal requirements for military and overseas voting and postelection audits to the Michigan Constitution.

If this proposal passes, it would allow people qualified to vote in Michigan to automatically be registered to vote when you renew your driver's license or state I.D. You could also obtain a ballot during the two week period before an election, obtain an absentee voter ballot without providing a reason and cast a straight-ticketvote for all candidates of a particular party in a partisan general election.
