Did you hear about this? A waitress working the overnight shift at a Waffle House in N.C., served a random businessman at 3 a.m. on Mother's Day. The man told the waitress that he's going to "bless her."
He left her a $1,500 tip, $1000 for herself and $500 to give to "a haggard-looking woman at a table nearby." Then, he jumped into a cab and left. Amazing, right?
But WAIT!!! She had to return it!
Why? Waffle House company policy says that all large tips must be refunded to patrons and "generous tippers are asked to tip again by cash or check".
Fortunately, the businessman, who is a restaurant owner himself, was tracked down. Last week, they met at one of his restaurants and the man (who still wants to remain anonymous) wrote her a personal check for $1,000.
I bet there will be a forever-friendship because of his joy of T.O.Y. (Thinking Outside Yourself).
