The Perseid Meteor Shower is set to stream across the night sky August 11 - August 12., according to NASA. The best time for viewing will be between midnight and dawn the morning of August 12.
On those nights, some Michigan state parks will host "Meteors and S'mores" so use your day pass and bring your blankets, chairs, snacks and bug spray for a night of sky-gazing!
Participating parks will provide complimentary s'mores and campfires and will stay open later than usual.
Some of the parks hosting "Meteors and S'mores" are Muskegon State Park, Island Lake in Livingston County, Van Buren State Park, Holland State Park in Ottawa County, Seven Lakes State Park in Oakland County and many more for a total of 18 party locations.
